Rear tire flat and breaking spokes

All suited up when I noticed the rear tire was flat.

Hop in the car and ride to the bike shop to buy an inner tube. Install new tube, inflate tire, head out for a ride. A short 8 miles into the ride I feel the rear tire going flat. In my haste, I didn’t inspect the rear tire, there must be something puncturing the inner tube.

Another spoke broke on the rear wheel, that’s the fifth one, I think it’s time for a new wheel. Whether I buy a new wheel or have one rebuilt, I’ll need to decide tomorrow.

MTB: distance 8.65 miles, average speed 13.2 mph.
